This painting is an adaptation of a photograph I took in 2009 at Venice Beach, along the bike path at the North West corner of the Rose Ave parking lot. After a long day selling art on the Venice Boardwalk, I would often take stroll out to the beach to watch the sunset before packing up and heading home. As I was walking across the parking lot I noticed this group of beachgoers posing perfectly for a sunset silhouette photograph, backdropped by the gorgeous Malibu mountains and Santa Monica Bay.
